Home Repair Fraud

On April 22, 2009, the Tupelo Police Department arrested Wilbur Walker, 43 years of age, of Tupelo, MS for false pretense, a felony. Walker is accused of attempting to defraud an elderly Tupelo citizen of a total of $1150.00 for house painting work.
The Tupelo Police Department has received numerous complaints accusing Walker, a prior convicted felon, of targeting elderly citizens with fraudulent schemes. Walker admitted to Detectives that he was not licensed, bonded or certified to perform home repair or construction work. Walkers bond was set at $150,000.00.
The TPD would like to warn citizens against hiring persons to perform home repair and construction work of any type without first making sure the person is a legitimate qualified contractor and then asking for and checking references
